Structure for Art Classes
Fine art lessons with Melanie Therrien focus on the needs of each individual student. The first class consists of an introduction and drawing exercises. Students do not need to bring anything to the first class but they are welcome to bring any materials they may have. Personal materials can be acquired as students advance in class. The goal of the lessons is to introduce students to various media, techniques and styles of art through individual projects, group projects, demonstrations and drawing from life. Students can experiment with the media of acrylic, watercolor, India ink, sharpies, gel pens, micron pens, markers, scratch board, pencil, colored pencils, watercolor pencils, pastel, oil pastel, charcoal and more. Students ages 12+ will also be introduced to water mixable oils.

Contact Information
Invoices, reminders and other information are sent via email, please inform us if you wish to be contacted another way.
Supplies
Materials for art class are supplied for group projects and introduction to materials. For ongoing students working in a primary medium on individual projects supplies are offered for purchase at the studio. Parents of enrolled students or adult students may put material purchases on their next invoice. Once students reach a certain level we recommend that they have their own materials for their primary medium and we touch base with parents when they are reaching that point.
Payment Policies and Fees
Invoices are sent via email. Please inform us if you wish to be contacted another way. Invoices can be paid online through the invoice itself or with cash or check or debit.
Art class is $115, due on the first of every month, paid consecutively, for as long as the student wishes to attend. The fee is for a spot in art class as well as the lessons and most supplies and is due on the first of every month regardless of weeks in the month, attendance, snow days and holidays. For two siblings it is 220 and 330 for three. Missed sessions can be made up with advanced notice during another class; payments are not pushed ahead, spots are not held, we do not keep track of missed sessions. Timely payment and/or communication insures your spot is maintained. Payments are non-refundable and there are no credits. Payment can be made by cash, check or credit card. Automatic payments are available. There is a 25.00 returned check fee.
Make up Lessons and Extra Lessons for Art Class
Students are more than welcome to come to an extra class in the week at no charge. For an extra lesson or to make up a missed lesson advance notice is needed. The projects are the same for each mixed age group class.
Exhibits
Students have the option to display their work on the student art walls as well as participate in exhibits throughout the year focused on student work. There is an Annual Student Show every April or May in conjunction with Lewiston Schools hosted by the studio. At this show awards are given by age group and every student will receive a certificate of participation. There is also a student gallery on the Wicked Illustrations web site and we post to social media as well. Please let us know your social media preferences.
Presentation
Another critical artistic skill is professionally presenting ones work. Advance classes include instruction on wiring, framing, writing a bio and artist statement, pricing and choosing titles.
